A document titled "Doctrine for Irregular Warfare in the United States Navy," published in 2009, reveals Washington's expansionist plans in the world.Within the document, was included a map that supposedly defines the new "battlefield" of the United States worldwide. The map features an "arc of instability" within which are the targets of this "battle", which include the vast majority of countries from Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Venezuela.
There is something that these countries have in common: the largest strategic reserves in the world. Gradually, the U.S. has been extending its war for all these areas, seeking to take over its rich resources.
Dominate populations
Irregular Warfare Doctrine is formalized with the advent to power of President Barack Obama in 2009. This form of warfare differs from conventional warfare, which aims to defeat the enemy armed forces and employing traditional tactics such as the invasion with troops and aerial bombardment.
But irregular warfare has another goal: to dominate and influence on civilian populations, and their tactics are different. In this form of asymmetric warfare techniques are used as subversion, penetration and infiltration into the "civil society" using psychological operations and mechanisms to promote chaos, instability and discontent to generate internal conflict, weakening the pillars power.
In the Pentagon's budget in 2010, was highlighted changing doctrine of conventional warfare to irregular warfare, "The 2010 budget supports the Pentagon's effort to institutionalize the necessary capabilities for irregular warfare.
The Pentagon must develop new capabilities to address the range of irregular challenges. To this end, the 2010 budget increases resources for Irregular War ... "(DoD FY 2010 Budget Request Summary Justification).
Simultaneously, the Pentagon was expanding its military presence in its new "battlefield", with the creation of Africa Command (AFRICOM) and agreements "in defense and security cooperation with Colombia, Panama, Brazil and Costa Rica.
These agreements, which broadened the presence of equipment, forces and military resources of Washington in Latin America were part of the new strategy of "air mobility", revealed in the White Paper Air Command of U.S. Air Force.
In that document, the United States emphasized the need to occupy military bases in Colombia, particularly in Palanquero to allow air to reach "broad spectrum" for the entire continent of South America.
According to the documents and other Air Force, the U.S. presence was needed to combat "anti-American governments" in the region, mainly Venezuela and other countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA).
The White Paper also stressed the need to expand the U.S. military presence in Colombia, and now in Panama and Central America in order to ensure global reach, to liaise with the bases of AFRICOM, and then throughout the Middle East, Europe and Asia , where the Pentagon is the dominant force.
Expanding on the battlefield
With the recent riots in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain and Libya, the U.S. has been meeting its goals-to expand its military presence and ensuring control over strategic resources in the region.
And although all these countries were killings by governments, only in the case of Libya, Washington pushed the military invasion. In other cases, governments have voluntarily subordinate to the U.S. agenda, but in Libya, the government of Muammar al-Gaddafi has resisted.
Since Obama came to power, his administration has expanded the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and has opened new "battlefield" in Pakistan and Yemen, and now Libya. Looking at a map of "battlefield" of irregular warfare, we can deduce that only lack expand military operations into Latin America to Venezuela in particular, home to the largest oil reserves in the world.
Washington's threats against Venezuela and Cuba have been tightened in recent months. A few days ago, the Washington Post - Newspaper influential on American politics - published an article promoting military action against Venezuela, accusing the government of Hugo Chavez of being a "center of world terror", just south of U.S. border.
In the article, Obama called on the government to act against Venezuela and classified as a "sponsor of terrorism", something that would open the door to military intervention. At the same time, the Obama has been increasing billionaire funding anti-Chavez groups in Venezuela, seeking to feed the conflict and encourage any action that could result in "regime change."
Since 2001, the plan was designed to invade Venezuela. The so-called "Plan Balboa" NATO military exercise was conducted in Spain in May 2001, was to invade Venezuela and take control of their oil resources.
In fact, the Plan Balboa, the strategy was to invade and attack Venezuela from U.S. military bases in Colombia, Panama, Aruba and Curacao, and Puerto Rico, occupying the western part of the country from Zulia to Apure (half-moon Venezuela) and taking control of it. It was a secessionist plan to divide Venezuela into two parts, leaving the control over oil reserves in the hands of the invading forces.
This map of invasion was a mere draft, on which the Pentagon has been working and trying to become a reality. In recent years, the U.S. military presence in Latin America has reached its largest level in history, and is mainly around to Venezuela.
The desire of the Pentagon is not having to launch any military plan against Venezuela, but the goal of overthrowing the government of Hugo Chávez through other strategies, such as soft coup (the "color revolutions"), destabilization and internal subversion , and a fierce campaign of psychological operations worldwide that has demonized the Venezuelan government to justify any aggression against it.
Libya's example shows to what extent is willing to go when the U.S. government launches a plan for "regime change" that is not suitable in a country with large strategic reserves. The battlefield of Washington continues to expand, and Venezuela is clearly in its sights.
